How to care for your bag
All Parker Thatch bags are handmade with love and great effort by a small group of hard-working, skilled artisans. Because they are cut and sewn by hand and not machine-made, they will have minor inconsistencies from bag to bag. We do not strive to make 100% "perfect" bags and find the unique character of each bag is what makes it beautiful. Markings, use and wear will create a one-of-a-kind appearance that will tell your story.
To ensure your Parker Thatch bag's preservation, please wear your bag carefully and treat it well. Proper care is the key to maintaining the beautiful look and feel of your PT pieces. It is important to be mindful of the material and what it comes into contact with, avoid abrasive surfaces and sharp objects, and spot clean carefully. We also recommend rotating use of your bag to let it rest every once in a while to avoid excessive wear. When storing your Parker Thatch pieces, be sure to place them in their dust bag for extra protection.
If you need further assistance in leather handbag care or cleaning, we recommend taking your PT products to a trusted leather specialist or cobbler. They are a great resource in helping to maintain your purchase and advise on everything from care to protective sprays and conditioning.
Leather and Suede: We lovingly hand-select all of our high-quality suede, leather and hair. Due to the organic nature of these items, slight imperfections may be noticeable and are what makes them special. It’s what we call “imperfectly perfect”. This is a desirable mark of distinction from machine-made products.
Tips to keep bags in tip-top condition:
Keep items away from water, rain, and extreme humidity - wipe dry with a clean, soft towel
Avoid exposure to abrasive surfaces
Do not overstuff your bag
Be careful with products such as perfume, hand sanitizer, hand creams, and oils
For lighter colors in leather and suede we also recommend avoiding exposure to dark denim or other dark fabrics with loose dye, as the leather could be subject to color transfer or stains.
Metallic Leather: Our special metallic leathers require a bit of extra special care. This is a delicate and fragile material making it more prone to scratches and staining. Do not use any cleaning products as this may cause the metallic coating to come off.
Hair on Cow: Hair on cow leather is delicate and will naturally shed and/or bald over time. This progression is unpreventable due to the nature of calfskin but can be slowed by limiting abrasive contact and friction. Be mindful of the delicate nature while in use. Brush or wipe in the direction of the hair to remove dirt or blot spills.
Denim Bags: This item is indigo dyed and could be prone to color transfer. Avoid soaking in the rain, humidity and constant rubbing against light colored clothing. Spot clean with a mild soap, damp soft cloth, and dry it promptly.
Nylon and Mesh Bags: We recommend gently spot treating any stains or markings with a damp cloth and a mild detergent or soap.
How to care for your jewelry

To best maintain the brightness and shine, keep PT jewelry in a cool, dry place, away from humidity. It’s really a matter of keeping it away from the elements—salt, water, sweat, and high humidity—and chemicals from cleaners or perfume.
We recommend that you remove jewelry before showering, swimming or exercising and avoid contact with perfumes, oils, alcohol based liquids (like hand sanitizer) - just let them absorb into your skin before wearing your jewelry. Buff your jewelry with a soft microfiber cloth and store in a pouch, case, or jewelry box to prevent tarnishing and fading.
How to care for your straps
To best care for your PT straps, avoid contact with abrasive surfaces and sharp objects. If your strap is in need of some cleaning, spot clean it with mild soap on a damp soft cloth and pat to dry. Be sure not to soak your strap in water - and if it does get wet, dry it promptly.
Our beaded straps are hand beaded by skilled artisans. Due to their handmade nature, they are delicate and require extra care and attention when being worn. We recommend that you store your strap carefully when not in use.
